My new everyday world is with two year olds. I recently started working at a preschool that is associated with our church in the twos. Which means my day now consists of potty breaks, snack times, tantrums, messy diapers/pull ups, and nap times. My days are measured not in hours or minutes but in how many poopy diapers I changed, and how many time outs I had to give. I imagine two year olds measure their day in how much they missed mommy/daddy, how many times their teacher got mad at them, how many times another kid took their toy, and how many times another kid hit/kicked/ran into. For those that are interested in details I have five assigned to my classroom but the most I've had show up on one day is four. There have been 2 out of 4 days where I had 3. I have 3 boys and one girl, but the girl can be a bigger handful than the boys. I have one that has never been in a preschool or daycare type setting. They are mostly partly potty trained, meaning they mostly wear pullups and about 50% of the time go in the potty. Which brings up an interesting thing.. I've noticed my vocabulary has shifted and I use different words to describe things associated with the bathroom :). I have to work hard not to talk to Steve in that new found language. How was my first week? There were hard parts, easy parts, and mostly just parts that I loved. I really do love children. Even the ones that can be difficult and talk back. I love being in their world. I love working with them. And I love how simple their life is. They tell you how they feel and what they want. Is it demanding sometimes? Of course. But the Lord is good and I feel like everyday it gets easier and everyday I learn something knew as far as how to handle different situations.
On a side note I had a short doctor's visit this week. I heard the heartbeat again! And my blood pressure and weight look great! Everything looks very healthy. Our next visit is in four weeks on July 6th. This will be an ultrasound and we should find out if this baby will be a Mr. Clark and a Miss. Clark. We are SO excited and thankful to the Lord for all the blessings He has given us. Every blessing we receive is a gift that we know we don't deserve.
