Week 16

Today I am 16 weeks. Here is belly photo.

Maternity Shopping

Today I am 16 weeks and maternity clothes are becoming more necessary. However, our budget these days is very tight, so today we went in search of some affordable maternity clothes. The day started off with a simple plan. First a yardsale or two, then some consignment shops, and then a quick errand. Well, the first yardsale started off interesting. The sign said they had maternity clothes but I could not find anything. They did have some cloth diapers which I considered, but before I could decide I began to feel nauseous (and then I was sick) and so we headed home for a few minutes. Then we decided to run our other errand and then we headed to the consignment shops. The first one was a major success. They had about two to three racks of maternity clothes, but they were very full racks. I got seven different items for all around 45 dollars. (Each individual item ranged from 3 dollars to 8 dollars). Then we went to the second one which had a slightly smaller section and slightly more expensive. I did find a few things. Then we finished the day with a small lunch at a local bakery. It was certainly different shopping, but overall I enjoyed it and feel I got several items that I can wear for a while. I told Steve aftewards that I am officially a "thrifty" shopper. The picture below is the clothes I got!

The down side is this is the second time in a week I've gotten sick. I've felt worse this week then I did early on in the pregnancy. Today I've been working all day to ease the sick feeling.. I'm really not a fan and hope it gets better soon.

Week 15

Today I am 15 weeks 4 days into what will hopefully be a 40 week journey. For those that want to know the number months.. I don't know. I guess 4 out of 10 months. Since I last posted these are some things that have happened:

- I finished my student teaching.
- I graduated with my masters. (A special thanks to all the family and friends who sent cards, gifts, and came in person to celebrate this milestone)
- I acted as a temporary babysitter for a friend who is a mother of a beautiful 5 month old girl. I did this for five days out of two weeks from 8-415. It was a kind of crash course in motherhood and it was great.

Recent questions from people:
What is your due date? November 12th. My doctor's office has said they will not induce until 2 weeks after the due date. So we expect (Lord willing) that we should have a baby sometime in November.

Have you felt the baby move? No, but I hope to soon!

When will you find out the gender? The appointment is not set, but we expect the end of June we will have the big ultrasound.

What plans do you have for after the baby is born?
At this point none except take care of the baby in some form. Please pray for us as we continue to seek God in regards to our future.

I haven't taken a recent belly picture. It is showing a little more each day, but its not always the most noticeable. I am still able to hide it easily if I want too. Maybe I will take another picture and post it here soon.

My next doctor's appointment is June 1st and then on June 3rd Steve and I will celebrate 5 years of marriage. We feel so blessed by our Lord within our marriage and our family. His grace is sufficient and we have seen that in many powerful ways in our marriage. We are thankful for eachother but we are most thankful for the sacrifice of Christ and the grace He offers which is the only reason our marriage has lasted and thrived.

The Funny Side of Pregnancy

Most people that know me well are aware that I like to laugh at myself. Steve regularly comments that I can be silly and make him laugh. I believe laughter should be a part of everyday and if you aren't laughing at yourself someone else probably is, but its way more fun if you jump in. We all do funny things everyday - God definitely has a sense of humor. Pregnancy brings a whole new range of funny moments. A bodily noise no one in the room expected. Falling asleep at inappropriate moments (like 7pm on the couch).

One of the funniest times Steve and I have enjoyed together is the time when my baby bump was just starting to come out and i was absolutely obsessed with pointing it out 50 times a day to my husband. For awhile he'd indulge my excitment and laugh with me when I showed him how I felt that my baby bump was getting bigger. The funniest thing was after showing Steve my baby bump several times during the day, by the time it was time to go to bed that night, when I wanted him to take one more look at my bump, he just stood there laughing so hard, harder than he had laughed all day. When I asked him why he was laughing so hard, he told me that the thought going through his head at that moment was, "well, do you want some cookies or mac and cheese so it can get bigger?" We both had a good laugh that night although it was late and I wasn't very coherent. It was one of the funniest moments Steve and I have shared during the first trimester, and we are looking forward to more as we go into the 2nd trimester.

If anyone else has a funny story from a pregnancy they want to share please do!

13 Weeks

Well... today marks completion of 13 weeks.. based on my research I think sometime between today and Tuesday I am officially in the 2nd Trimester!!.. I have been feeling better and my energy is coming back some.. here are a list of highlights from this week:

-Great Doctor's visit: Blood work is all normal. Heard baby's heart beat!! I am Rh negative and will need a few shots to counter this. Its nothing to be concerned about, and is very normal. (I know several friends who had this). My blood type is O negative. If your curious you can google it.. I may blog more about this as time goes on.

-Bought first maternity clothes! (pants, swim suit, shirt, and dress)

-Received my first Mother's Day card (thanks to my mother-in-law and Steve's Aunt)

Overall it was a great week and I am really excited about graduating in a week!

The Lord has been very good to us and I feel very blessed at this time in our life. His kindness and goodness to us is overwhelming. When I sit and think about all the things he is doing in our lives right now I feel blessed beyond anything I deserve. I am so thankful to Him for walking with us each day, and for the greatness of His love and mercy.
